Candax Spuds Ezzaouia 18 Well Onshore Tunisia

08/22/2008

CTF6 Rig Drilling at Ezzaouia
Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Candax Energy Inc. (TSX: CAX) is pleased to announce that Ezzaouia 18 well (31.4% WI), onshore Tunisia was spudded yesterday. The well is targeting an area in the western side of the Ezzaouia field which based on the reservoir mapping and modelling, has un-developed up-dip reserves in the main productive Jurassic reservoir. The well will be drilled to a total vertical depth of 2,350 metres; drilling and completion are expected to take approximately 45 days.

Michael Wood, CEO, commented:

"The Ezzaouia 18 well is the second development well being drilled as part of the current optimization programme for Candax's onshore fields. After drilling Ezzaouia 18, the CTF6 rig will move to Chaal, where Candax will drill a sidetrack of Chaal-1 to further appraise the potential of the 850 Bcf identified resource."
