Ezzaouia (WI 45%)

Ezzaouia

The Ezzaouia field is located onshore southern Tunisia, approximately 12 kilometres north of the town of Zarzis.

Production commenced in 1990 and the field is operated by Maretap, a joint venture company between Candax and  Entreprise Tunisienne d’Activités Pétrolières (ETAP), the Tunisian state-owned oil company. Cumulative gross oil production from the field is approximately 21.7 million barrels. Estimated net remaining Proven + Probable reserves are 1.01 MMbbls of oil. Current production from the field is 750 barrels (250 net).

In 2010, the partners drilled one side-track (Ezzaouia 5 well) and performed three work-overs (Ezzaouia 1, 9 and 11 wells) using the Ulysse rig with disappointing results, however tests are ongoing to optimize injection pressures to improve production.

Candax is conducting a reinterpretation of the 3D seismic previously acquired, to enhance its understanding of the various horizons, including the Deep Triassic, present in the Ezzaouia field. Candax expect that this reinterpretation of seismic will identify infill drilling locations and will optimize the future work program, to yield better results than the 2010 campaign.  The results of the re-interpretation are expected by the end of the third quarter in 2011.
